SUMMARY:Priest Lake — Be Bear Aware
DESCRIPTION:ICL is teaming up with Brian Johnson\, Idaho Department of Fish and Game grizzly bear information and education conservation officer\,  Brett Lyndaker\, Idaho Panhandle National Forests wildlife biologist\, and the Yellowstone to Yukon Initiative to teach local residents about recreating in bear country. Topics covered will include: \n\nA brief overview of the status of local grizzly bear populations\nIdentification of grizzly bears and black bears\nConflict avoidance techniques\nRequirements for the storage of food and other attractants on national forest lands\n\nThe presentation will be followed by a practical session where participants will learn to deploy bear spray using inert spray canisters. \nRegistration is free\, but pre-registration is REQUIRED as space is limited! To pre-register\, please sign-up here! \nRegistration includes presentation\, instruction and an inert bear spray practice canister. Participants will also be eligible to purchase Counter Assault bear spray at a discount. \n*These events are made possible through the generous support of the Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative (Y2Y) and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation — helping to educate and empower local residents to safely live and recreate in bear country!* \nJoin us and let’s get bear aware together! \n \nThis event is part of a partnership between ICL and Y2Y to provide bear aware education and tools in Idaho and Montana\, made possible by National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
