DESCRIPTION:The Music Theatre of Idaho\, as part of our 2022\, 25th anniversary season\, is proud to offer the amazing and critically-acclaimed\, award- winning THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL\, declared “BRILLIANT!” by The New York Times. The Spongebob musical will make it’s Nampa debut at the Nampa Civic Center October 20-22. SpongeBob and his friends spring from television to the Nampa Civic Center Theatre stage in a Broadway blockbuster event featuring original music from superstars transcending genre and audience.\n“Wonders pour from the stage in a ravishing stream of color and invention” (Time Out New York) as Broadway’s best creative minds reimagine and bring to life the beloved cartoon series in a neon- sparkly “party for the eyes and ears” (Daily Beast). Be there when SpongeBob and all of Bikini Bottom face catastrophe—until a most unexpected hero rises to take center stage. This “creative explosion” (Broadway.com) is “nothing short of genius” says TheaterMania. With a live musical being based on an animated cartoon\, it’s hard to know what to expect. While the bright colors and entertaining characters remain\, the musical is based on a heart warming story where a group of friends pull together to save their community from disaster\, all the while proving that heros can emerge from the most unlikely places.\nThe Spongebob Musical is suitable for all ages. Not only is the story delightful and timeless\, but the music was composed by a collection of the most iconic pop and rock artists of the century\, including\, Cyndi Lauper(Hero is my Middle Name)\, The Plain White T’s (BFF)\, David Bowie (No Control)\, John Legend (I Guess I Miss You)\, Sara Bareilles (Poor Pirates)\, Arrowsmith (Bikini Bottom Boogie)\, Panic at the Disco (Simple Sponge)\, Yolanda Adams (Super Seastar Savior)\, and many more! The score is uplifting and just plain fun.\nPerformances of The Spongebob Musical will run Thursday\, October 20 through Saturday October 22 at 7:30 pm\, with an additional 1:30 matinee on Saturday October 22. Tickets may be purchased on the MTI website at Broadwaynampa.org or by calling 208-468-2385.\nBIKINI BOTTOM BEACH FAMILY FUN FESTIVAL\nIn coordination with the THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL\, the Music Theatre of Idaho will present the first annual BIKINI BOTTOM BEACH FAMILY FUN FESTIVAL at the Nampa Civic Center on Saturday October 22 from 4:30-8:30 pm. The Festival is a celebration of families\, featuring Food Trucks\, Games and Activities\, opportunities to meet the Spongebob characters. The whole community is invited to attend this fundraiser for the Music Theatre of Idaho\, which will be held in the Civic Center North Parking lot\, along 3rd St South. There will be plenty of prizes\, good eats and photo opportunities.
